Hugo nominations are open, and Worldcon 76 has announced their host: Artist Guest of Honor John Picacio! Plus, Locus Magazine has announced their 2017 Recommended Reading List, and voting is open for the Locus Awards.

Picacio, himself a two-time Hugo winner, said: “It’s a huge honor to be the host of one of science fiction and fantasy’s biggest nights. This is going to be an historical evening and I can’t wait to be there with everyone at Worldcon 76.” The nomination period for the 2018 Hugo Awards and the 1943 Retrospective Hugo Awards is now open, so members of Worldcon 75 in Helsinki, and those who joined Worldcon 76 in San Jose and Dublin 2019: An Irish Worldcon before January 1, 2018, will be receiving their ballots soon.

The Hugo Awards have been given since 1953, and every year since 1955, by the annual World Science Fiction Convention (the “Worldcon”). The first Worldcon occurred in New York City in 1939, and Worldcons have been held annually since then except during World War II. The 1943 Retrospective Hugo Awards will offer an opportunity to honor work published during that wartime hiatus, and will be announced at a red carpet “1943 Worldcon Party” on Thursday, August 16, 2018. You can find more information about the nomination process here.

We’re also excited to report that Locus has released their 2017 Recommended Reading List! We’re proud that many Tor and Tor.com Publishing titles were included in such a fantastic list. Be sure to vote for your favorites in the 2018 Poll & Survey, and remember that the Locus Awards will be in Seattle on June 22-24. You can get your tickets now.
